Cloud VPS Instances
Once your cloud instance uses all of its allocated bandwidth, it will be automatically throttled to 10 Mbps for the remainder of the billing period. The instance will not be suspended or terminated.
Legacy OpenVZ VPS
For legacy SolusVM-managed OpenVZ VPS instances:
- Your VPS will be throttled to a lower speed (typically 10 Mbps or less)
- The throttle remains in place until the end of your billing cycle
- Your VPS will not be suspended or terminated
- All services will continue to function, just at reduced network speed
Monitoring Bandwidth Usage
You can monitor your bandwidth usage through:
- SolusVM Control Panel - View current usage and limits
- Client Area - Check detailed bandwidth graphs and history
Purchasing Additional Bandwidth
If you need more bandwidth before your billing cycle resets, you can purchase additional bandwidth:
How to Order
- Log into the Client Area
- Go to Services → View Available Addons
- Select your VPS service
- Choose bandwidth addon packages
- Complete the order
Preventing Bandwidth Overages
To avoid hitting your bandwidth limit:
- Monitor usage regularly through SolusVM
- Set up bandwidth monitoring alerts
- Optimize your applications to use less bandwidth
- Use CDN services for static content
- Consider upgrading to a plan with more included bandwidth
- Use compression for web content (gzip, brotli)
Bandwidth Resets
Your bandwidth allowance resets at the beginning of each billing cycle. For monthly plans, this is typically the day of the month you originally signed up or renewed.
