    Reinstall VPS OS

    Learn how to reset your VPS to a fresh operating system installation.

    Warning: Data Loss

    Reinstalling your VPS will permanently delete ALL data on your server. Make sure you download any files you want to keep before proceeding.

    Steps for Reinstalling

    Backup Your Data

    MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SAVE TO YOUR COMPUTER. Once you reinstall, your data cannot be recovered.

    Access SolusVM

    1. 1. Log into your SolusVM Control Panel
    2. 2. Select your VPS from the Virtual Servers list

    Reinstall Operating System

    1. 1. Click on "Reinstall" or "Rebuild" in the menu
    2. 2. Select your desired operating system template
    3. 3. Click "Reinstall" to confirm
    4. 4. Wait for the reinstallation to complete (usually 1-5 minutes)

    Get New Root Password

    After reinstallation, a new root password will be generated. You can find it:

    • In the SolusVM control panel under "Root Password"
    • In the email sent to your account email address

    Post-Reinstall Steps

    1. 1Wait a few minutes for the VPS to fully boot
    2. 2Connect via SSH using your new root password

      Update the system:
      yum update
      # or
      apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
    4. 4Reconfigure your applications and services
    5. 5Restore any backed-up data

    Troubleshooting

    If you can't connect after reinstalling:

    • Wait at least 5 minutes for the VPS to fully boot
    • Make sure you're using the new root password from SolusVM
    • Try rebooting the VPS from SolusVM
    • If still having issues, open a support ticket
