    SWIP IP Addresses

Learn about SWIP (Shared Whois Project) for IP address reassignment.

    What is SWIP?

SWIP (Shared Whois Project) is a process that allows IP address blocks to be reassigned from a provider (like RamNode) to an end user organization. When IPs are SWIPed, the public WHOIS database shows your organization as the contact for those IP addresses instead of RamNode.

    Benefits of SWIP

    • Your organization appears as the owner in WHOIS lookups
    • Better reputation for email servers and DNS
    • Professional appearance for businesses
    • Required for some compliance standards
    • Helpful for abuse contact information

    SWIP Availability

Yes, we offer SWIP upon request. Please submit a ticket to request SWIP for your server IP(s). We can process SWIP requests for customers with multiple IP addresses or those who need it for specific business requirements.

    Requirements for SWIP

To request SWIP, you'll need to provide:

    • Your organization name

    Verifying SWIP

After SWIP is completed, you can verify it by performing a WHOIS lookup:

    whois YOUR_IP_ADDRESS
    # or use online tools like:

    Important Notes

    • SWIP is typically most relevant for customers with multiple IPs
    • SWIP may take 24-48 hours to propagate through all WHOIS servers
    • You're responsible for keeping your SWIP contact information up to date
    • If you cancel your service, the SWIP will be removed
