    SWIP IP Addresses

Getting IPs assigned to your organization

Yes, we offer SWIP upon request. SWIP allows IP addresses to be officially assigned to your organization in the WHOIS database.

    What is SWIP?

SWIP (Shared WHOIS Project) is a process that allows IP addresses to be reassigned from RamNode to your organization in the regional Internet registry (ARIN for North American IPs, RIPE for European IPs). This makes your organization the listed contact for those IP addresses in WHOIS lookups.

    Benefits of SWIP

    IP Reputation

Build reputation associated with your organization

    WHOIS Privacy

Your organization info appears instead of RamNode's

    Abuse Management

Abuse complaints come directly to you

    Professional Appearance

Shows ownership of your IP infrastructure

    Compliance

May be required for regulatory needs

    Free Service

SWIP is provided at no additional charge. We handle all the administrative work with the regional Internet registries.

    • • Network administrators for abuse reporting
    • • Security researchers tracking threats
    • • Legal entities for compliance verification
    • • Other organizations for network management

    Responsibility for IP Reputation

After SWIP, you're responsible for the reputation of these IPs. Make sure you have proper monitoring and abuse handling procedures in place.

    SWIP vs rDNS

    SWIP

    • • Changes WHOIS ownership information
    • • Affects abuse reporting
    • • Shows your organization as assignee
    • • Managed through registry

    rDNS/PTR

    • • Sets reverse DNS hostname
    • • Important for mail servers
    • • Can be changed anytime
    • • Managed through control panel
