Cloud Instances

Virtual Servers Built for Real Work

A RamNode cloud instance is a fully virtualized Linux or Windows server running on enterprise-grade KVM virtualization and managed through the open standard of OpenStack.

    What Is a Cloud Instance?

A cloud instance is a virtual private server (VPS): a slice of a physical host carved out by a hypervisor. It runs its own operating system, gets its own dedicated resources, and behaves like a real server. You can reboot it, reinstall it, attach storage, and connect it to private networks, all from the cloud control panel or the OpenStack API.

Unlike shared hosting, every RamNode instance gives you root access, a dedicated IPv4 address, and the freedom to run whatever software you need. Because it is built on OpenStack, you can also automate it: scale up, clone, snapshot, and rebuild through the same APIs and tools used in the largest public clouds.

What Can You Run on a Cloud Instance?

From small side projects to production workloads, a cloud instance is the flexible building block behind thousands of applications.

    Websites & Applications

Host blogs, e-commerce stores, SaaS backends, APIs, and microservices with full control over the web stack.

    Databases & Data Stores

Run PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Valkey, and vector databases with persistent storage and predictable performance.

    Containers & Orchestration

Deploy Docker, Kubernetes, Coolify, Dokploy, or CapRover. Build and ship applications without managed-service lock-in.

    Game Servers

Host Minecraft, Valheim, Counter-Strike, and other multiplayer servers with low latency and root-level configuration.

    Automation & CI/CD

Run self-hosted GitHub Actions runners, Jenkins, GitLab CI, n8n, and scheduled jobs on your own infrastructure.

    VPNs & Security Tools

Deploy WireGuard, Tailscale, pfSense, Wazuh, Vaultwarden, and monitoring stacks to protect and connect your network.

    Why KVM on OpenStack?

RamNode chose KVM and OpenStack for the same reasons enterprise clouds do: performance, portability, and openness.

    True Hardware Virtualization with KVM

Full kernel isolation. Each instance gets its own virtualized CPU, memory, disk, and network stack, so workloads cannot interfere with each other.

Run any operating system. KVM supports custom kernels, custom images, and ISO installs, giving you the same flexibility as physical hardware.

Better performance and security. KVM is a first-class Linux hypervisor used by AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, not a container-style shim.

    Open, Standard Cloud APIs

No vendor lock-in. OpenStack is the open-source standard for private and public clouds. Skills, scripts, and Terraform modules transfer between providers.

Automate everything. Use the native openstack CLI, Terraform, Ansible, or the REST API to create, resize, and destroy instances.

Enterprise primitives. Security groups, floating IPs, private networks, block storage, and object storage are all first-class OpenStack services.

    Fast Deployment & Scaling

Launch in seconds. Cloud-init images and ISO installs let you go from idea to server in under a minute.

Resize on demand. Upgrade CPU, RAM, and disk as your workload grows without reinstalling the operating system.

Snapshot and clone. Take point-in-time images of an instance to back up, replicate, or template a working environment.

    Part of a Complete VPC

Private networking. Connect instances to isolated private networks with their own subnets and security rules.

Flexible IP addressing. Attach public IPv4, IPv6, and floating IPs to move addresses between instances for failover.

Storage and load balancing. Add block volumes, object storage, and load balancers to build complete production infrastructure.

    Transparent Pricing for Every Workload

Hourly billing, no long-term contracts, and plans from $4/mo. Pay only for the time your instances exist, with monthly caps that keep costs predictable.
